Fifty-five basal cell carcinomas treated with topical imiquimod: outcome at 5-year follow-up.

چکیده
N oninvasive immunobiologic therapy with topical imiquimod, 5%, cream is an emerging therapeutic option for basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Despite the documented short-term efficacy of imiquimod for superficial BCC, few data exist on the longterm course of imiquimod-treated BCCs. In an effort to evaluate the long-term outcome of patients treated with imiquimod for BCC, we conducted a 5-year follow-up, prospective, open-label study.

Sustained clearance of superficial basal cell carcinomas treated with imiquimod cream 5%: results of a prospective 5-year study.
We conducted a prospective, multicenter, phase 3, open-label study to assess long-term sustained clearance of superficial basal cell carcinomas (sBCCs) treated with imiquimod cream 5%. A biopsy-confirmed tumor (area > or = 0.5 cm2 and diameter < or = 2.0 cm) was treated once daily 7 times per week for 6 weeks. Participants with initial clinical clearance at 12 weeks posttreatment were followed ...

Fifty-eight patients with 119 nodular (2 mm or more in thickness) basal cell carcinomas successfully treated with photodynamic therapy were included in this 1-year follow-up study. The initial cure rate at 3-6 months was 92% after photodynamic therapy, which included an initial debulking procedure and topical application of dimethylsulphoxide in order to enhance penetration of 5-aminolevulinic ...
متن کاملDisseminated porokeratosis palmaris and plantaris treated with imiquimod cream to prevent malignancy.
Sir, Disseminated porokeratosis palmaris and plantaris (DPPP), a subtype of porokeratosis Mibelli, is a rare autosomal dominant genodermatosis first described by Guss et al. in 1971 (1). An early review of the literature showed that 7% of 250 patients with porokeratosis subsequently developed skin tumours (2). Squamous cell carcinomas (SCC), Bowen’s disease (BD), and rarely, basal cell carcinom...

BACKGROUND Gorlin syndrome, also known as the basal cell nevus syndrome (OMIM #109400), is a rare autosomal-dominant genetic disease. The disease, which shows mutation of the patched receptor gene (PTCH1) of the sonic hedgehog pathway, is characterized by developing multiple basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) in adolescent patients. Other clinical features include mandibular keratocysts, palmar and p...
متن کاملEfficacy of topical 5% imiquimod with cryotherapy versus intralesional meglumine antimoniate in the treatment of anthroponotic cutaneous leishmaniasis
Background: Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is a major world problem. Several types of treatment regimens have been suggested. Imiquimod demonstrated a leishmanicidal activity by increasing local cytokine production. The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy of topical 5% imiquimod with cryotherapy vs. intralesional meglumine antimoniate (MA) in treatment of anthroponotic (dry type) CL. ...
